The OZMA ORKESTRÂ collective certainly pleads the case for a creative jazz. Very quickly, emmerged in an original repertoire combining interactions, pleasure of spontaneous sound and narrative developments. The electric energy of the quintet, the influence of repetitive and modal music, the numerous spaces offered by atonality, the subtlety of the mixtures of timbres and the variety of nuances are all parameters to be explored, mixed and combined.
The writing pays great attention to the form, the contrasts, the colors, and the enhancement of the sensitivity of the musicians in areas that are sometimes surprising. One might even imagine some fleeting evocations of Steve Reich or Django Bates concealed in the intriguing and intelligently seraching music of this open-minded collective.
